The next installment in the Mass Effect game series is supposed to take us into a new galaxy, with the human race as aliens, and an all new protagonist leading the charge. We aren't sure how everything will tie together with the previous Mass Effect trilogy, but a series of new novels should bring the story into better focus.

Titan Books is planning four new novels that will "act as prequel and sequel to the games." The publisher says the books will become part of the overall Mass Effect saga, and promises that the stories will answer many of the questions fans have been asking.

The first book, entitled Mass Effect: Andromeda Initiation by N.K. Jemisin, is scheduled to be released in August. She will pen two other as-yet-untitled books, scheduled for March and September of next year. A fourth novel is planned from author Mac Walters in March 2018.
