Bungie cancels Destiny Iron Banner tournament

The studio cited technical issues as the reason for the tourney's cancellation.

Bungie had planned to reinstate Destiny's popular Iron Banner mode, but sent out a tweet earlier today (via GameSpot) informing players that it has scrapped the tournament scheduled for tomorrow.

"Due to the same issue that prevented players from joining matches in Trials of Osiris, we are also cancelling Iron Banner for this week," Bungie reps wrote.

That same issue concerns a hodgepodge of network connectivity hitches that caused problems for players attempting to join the Trials of Osiris weekend event. Bungie canned that event back in May thanks to an exploit that gave players unlimited quantities of heavy ammo like rockets.

Destiny players still have lots to look forward to, such as the Rise of Iron expansion due out later this year and news on Destiny 2, on target for release in 2017.
