Mass Effect Andromeda's new commander defaults to female

FemRy will be the new norm.

12

In the original Mass Effect trilogy, FemShep was the alternative. In Mass Effect Andromeda, apparently FemRy will be the norm.

After the EA press conference and the behind-the-scenes look at the game, the Mass Effect team answered a few questions, and a few details emerged regarding the main character (via NeoGAF). The main character's name will be Ryder, and default to female. There are also hints that there is more than on Ryder, but there was no clue given as to where these other family members may be or how they tie into the game.

It was also mentioned that the game is in the "last leg" of development for a spring 2017 launch.

Have the voice actors been revealed for this game yet? I mostly played male in the original trilogy but I thought that Jennifer Hale did a pretty good job.

It's so weird hearing him in his normal voice. So many people think his character voice is it.

Very interesting. I like it! I'll probably play through the character creation system with both a male and female and see how I like the voice acting.

I played both in ME, though I thought the Femshep had great voice acting. Dont really care either way, I'll probably rock both at some point.

As long as there are no stereotypical gender plotlines I could not care less. Jennifer Hale was a much stronger voice actor in the original series. What I hate is ham fisted plot points... I don't think sexism and racism among humans makes sense like a thousand years in the future in a different galaxy

I was really hoping for a protagonist with their own back story and personality. Shepard was okay, just not the lest bit interesting since they're just a paper doll for you to move around.

Interviews with the developer are saying they are trying to make the new protagonists more of a blank slate. No picking backgrounds. So I don't think you are going to get what you are looking for.

          Too bad for me :(

Considering they didn't have to spend real time developing a protagonist they could have at least created a story with a decent pay off after 3 games. I'm mildly excited, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.
