Square Enix appeared at the Xbox Media Briefing today to show off Final Fantasy XV playing on the Xbox One. The gameplay demo showed the protagonists battling a gigantic titan, before being interrupted by an opposing army for a large-scale three-way battle. The extended look at the battle system promised more fluid action than many Final Fantasy games, looking like it took cues from the Lightning series in Final Fantasy XIII.

While it looks maybe kinda cool, it also just doesn't feel at ALL like a FF game. It almost couldn't get much further. Actually, it begs the question, has it gone full Action RPG? It almost looks like it. Man, I hope it does well for them, or this is the end of the series. But, I think they've alienated their core fan based with the progressive shift in combat systems. I may be fully done with the series.

It seems like a pretty logical progression from Final Fantasy 12. It's also similar to the Xenoblade games, which are excellent RPGs. I'm certainly not dissuaded.

I picked up 12 on the last sale. I'm struggling with them. It's not terrible. Has a shade of the ATB system. But this video looks like pure arpg. I'm an old gamer, and not that I don't want twitch/skill based games, but this is simply not the IP I grew up.

More like X. I've been trying to play back through it with the re-release. Man, I really don't remember the game. I know I played it. I remember spending time in the Blitzball stuff, the AP system, and such, but I'm not remember whole sections of the game. So, it's kinda like playing it for the first time. That's kinda cool.
