Agents of Mayhem is Volition's next game

Its an all new IP from the Saints Row developer.

We had a few hints that Saints Row developer Volition was working on something new. and now it looks like the rumors are true. The new IP is called Agents of Mayhem, and will be set in the Saints Row universe.

It an madcap superhero title where MAYHEM (Multinational Agency for Hunting Evil Masterminds), led by one Persephone Brimstone, takes on the bad guys of LEGION (League of Evil Gentlemen Intent on Obliterating Nations) ruthlessly run by Doctor Babylon. Of course, Saints Row reveled in its over-the-top nature, so Volition seems to be keeping the game close to what made the original series popular.

Here is the exclusive trailer from IGN

The game, which is being developed for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, is expected to come out some time in 2017. Here are some official screenshots from the announcement.

Looks amusing, and seems to be set in the Saints Row universe. I'm curious.

I miss the real 3rd St Saints. Jackin cars and tricking them out, taking over neighborhoods. Not really into the sci fi turn the Saints have taken over the last couple of games.

I thought the zany scifi angle allowed them to stretch their legs and form their own identity outside of "GTA clone".

Thats true. My fiance wont play the sci fi stuff though. She likes stealing cars and gang activities, and honestly, watching her play is almost more fun than playing the game myself. Shes terrible at aiming with the controller, so everything becomes a spray and pray mess of chaos lol.

Regarding being connected to Saint's Row:

Unless there was a press release saying otherwise, I'm not sure I would claim that this is actually connected to Saint's Row. The IGN article also is a bit up in the air about a connection, and while they do use Ultor and make sly references to a "street gang" I'm not sure that's enough.

For starters, I'm not counting Ultor as that came from Red Faction and there's a clear chronological break between Red Faction and Saint's Row.

They could all be divergent, but again it doesn't seem clear yet.

Did you miss the purple logo?

I thought of that as just being an extension of their playing with Ultor being a thing that exists in all their games. This one happens to use an SR inspired variant of the logo.

I would be happy for it to be connected or an alternate universe or... whatever, but I don't think a wink and two references, given their history, are solid enough reasons to declare it as fact.

I think the combo of Ultor, the Saint's logo and her saying, "A street gang? Hardly." kinda sealed the deal that it's in the same universe.

Although it looks like I really need to stop forgetting about Gat Out of Hell, as I guess a female named "Brimstone" is mentioned in the ending, and with the woman at the end of the trailer being Persephone Brimstone... Yeah okay I'm leaning towards the connected side of things.

I dunno... the 3rd Street Saints and the Agents of Mayhem both using the fleur-de-lis as their logo?

Also the fact that Brimstone is mentioned in the "retcon" ending of Gat out of Hell? Along with Ultor?

Tip: When you make a trailer, leave those descriptive shots (the character bios with text) on for a short time, like a few seconds. so ..people.....can read them,..
