Amazon has announced some new color and storage options for its line of Fire tablets.

The Fire will now be available in three new colors: magenta, blue, and tangerine with options for 8GB of internal storage for $49.99, or 16GB for $69.99.

“Fire is the fastest-selling Amazon tablet ever, with millions sold since its launch,” said Kevin Keith, GM, Fire Tablets. “We’re excited to introduce Fire with bright new colors and even more storage—so that customers can enjoy a great entertainment experience on a fun, colorful tablet starting at less than $50.”

The Amazon Fire Kids Edition has also received an additional color option. In addition to its already-available pink or blue color options, customers can now purchase the tablet in booger green with options for 8GB and 16GB of internal storage for $99.99 and $119.99, respectively.

$20 for 8gb of extra storage is still silly. BUT, I gotta admit I've been impressed with the $50 tablet. It's not a performance beast, but for the kids and just consuming media it's been great. Love that it'll take an SD card and now you can download Prime stuff onto it. Save me so much headache keeping the 3yr old occupied while we're out and about.

And the low resolution isnt jarringly terrible? They are like 150ppi.

Not at all. Can I tell the difference between my 8" Galaxy Tab S2 and the 7" $50 Amazon fire? Sure. But movies look just fine on it.

          BTW: (171 ppi / 1024 x 600)

That's about the same res as the pre-retina iPads and the original iPad mini. For $50, it's just fine for Netflix.
