Square Enix Announces New Entry in Valkyrie Profile Series

The RPG will launch in Japan in spring 2016.

Quiet as a mouse, Square Enix launched a teaser site for Valkyrie Anatomia: The Origin, which one speculates is a prequel entry in the publisher's Valkyrie Profile series of RPGs.

Details are sparse. So far, we've got a logo, and that's pretty much it. No screenshots (the image used in this story comes from an earlier installment), no plot details. Gematsu translated the site and came away with little besides the name, the genre, and a release window: spring 2016... in Japan, that is, leaving fans to speculate whether Valkyrie Anatomia: The Origin will make its way stateside.

"The game is produced by Yoshinori Yamagishi, features music by Motoi Sakuraba, and scenario by Daisuke 'Bun-O FUJISAWA' Fujisawa," according to Gematsu.

While the teaser site does not list projected platforms, Gematsu points out that Square Enix uses the phrasing "planned for distribution" in Japan this spring, and believes the use of the word "distribution" may indicate a smartphone release.
