Lawbreakers will no longer be free-to-play

Yet another mutliplayer shooter changes from being free-to-play to being a 'digital premium title.'

Lawbreakers will no longer be a free-to-play title, Boss Key Productions has announced today at GDC.

The title is now being considered a digital premium title when it releases, and as a result, will no longer be a free-to-play game. During its Game Developers Conference panel, Boss Key didn’t disclose what the price of admission would be to play Lawbreakers, but it assured those present it won’t be at the $60 price point of a traditional retail game.

“As the game continued to take shape, we realized free-to-play wasn’t the right fit for what we’re building,” said Cliff Bleszinski in a statement submitted to Shacknews. “LawBreakers is a competitive game at heart and that means balance is a big priority to me, my team, and our community. Using a digital premium model helps ensure an even playing field by giving fans access to every available role without any barriers.”

Lawbreakers will also launch exclusively on Steam and can now be added to your Steam Wishlist, that’s if you’re OK with paying for the game rather than enjoying it as a free-to-play title. It’s currently in development for PC, although a console release isn’t out of the question.

hmmm. it didn't seem to me to be worth paying for from my initial impressions. FTP, maybe. But I wouldn't go out of my way to find/buy it.

Is this game Overwatch but with 4 classes? Or is it more in the CS vein?

I feel like they're in for a rough time against Overwatch.
