Pokemon fans, rejoice! Just in time for Pokemon's 20th anniversary, a Pokemon-themed Nintendo Direct is being held this week on Friday, February 26 at 7 AM PT / 1O AM ET.

The event is poised to "celebrate 20 years of Pokemon," as the Nintendo Direct website has announced, and The Pokemon Company has made it quite clear that fans should stay tuned for some very big news out of the event.

The series' 20th anniversary isn't until this Saturday, when the franchise was first released in Japan. Incidentally, you'll also be able to purchase the classic Red, Yellow, and Blue Pokemon titles via the 3DS eShop this Saturday as well, including the New 3DS with special Pokemon faceplates and digital copies of Red and Blue.

What could we expect from the broadcast? It's exciting to think about. One thing's for sure: All this 20th anniversary stuff is great for fans.
