We learned Gears of War Ultimate Edition was coming to PC back at E3 2015. Since then, Microsoft has been quiet about the title, but today, the game has appeared on the Windows 10 Store and has given us a bevvy of new information.

According to the Windows 10 Store listing, we can expect Gears of War Ultimate Edition to feature support for 4K graphics with an unlocked refresh rate, although everything else appears to be on par with the Xbox One version. That means you should expect to play through the Timgad Station, read through five digital Gears of War comic books, and experience a total of 19 different multiplayer maps.

The PC version of the game will offer support for both keyboard/mouse and gamepad controls, and will include the Deluxe Weapon Skin Pack and 11 bonus multiplayer characters.

One thing the Windows 10 Store listing reveals that we didn’t know previously are the system requirements for Gears of War Ultimate Edition. Here’s what you’ll need to meet its minimum system requirements:

  • Memory: 8 GB RAM (2 GB VRAM)
  • Graphics: Geforce GTX 650 Ti or Radeon R7 260x

Here are the recommended system requirements for 1920x1080p resolution:

OK, well, my Alienware Alpha (Core i5) that I bought 15 months ago has officially been kicked out of PC games arms race! Sure it meets the minimum requirements but .... come on! 15 months ago!!

Don't read requirements like a bible. I "only" have a i5 6400 @ 3.2ghz and a GTX 780 3gb VRAM and 8gb DDR3 and I'll bet I'll be able to run at 1080p on a 55" screen. The only thing I may have to sacrifice is AA options, but that has never bothered me.

Wow those system requirements are mentally high for a remake that uses DX12. Don't get me wrong I am super happy it is using DX12 but this must kill the Xbox One version if it needs all that.

I have to wonder what the hell are they doing in the game that it needs so much power? The whole point of DX12 is to lower your hardware requirements of the GPU like Mantle or when you go from DX9 to DX11.

Is this game visually way better than the new Tomb Raider and pushing new DX12 stuff?

The original Gears of Wars on the PC requirements where the following :

      * I have the original and the DVD *

      CPU: Intel 2.4 GHz+ / AMD 2.0 GHz+
      CPU Speed: 2.4 GHz
      RAM: 1 GB
      OS: Windows XP or Vista
Video Card: NVIDIA Geforce 6600+ / ATI x700+
      DirectX version: 9.0c or DX10
      Sound Card: Yes
      Free Disk Space: 12 GB
      DVD-ROM: Yes

That is a crazy jump of hardware req off the base game hey LOL.

Unless the poly count is insane, massive new detail every where, everything is tessellated, has 4096x4096 textures, multi shaders on everything, crazy shadows system, mental particle system heck I don't know what else I am not sure why its so high.

Man I want to really know now, I saw the XB1 footage and looks good but these requirements are severe over kill if its just the Xbox One game with nothing changed.

We will see I guess, I take it no one has seen any PC screens yet?

To be honest I don't even look at requirements anymore, and I don't have a top system (not even close really :() but minimum spec reqs have been so blown out of proportion that it seems companies are only making them so people can't wine and complain when their system can't run the game.
