Nintendo has published its financial earnings report, revealing it has sold a total of 20.5 million units of amiibo figures and 21.5 million units of amiibo cards.

In May 2015, Nintendo announced it had shipped 10.5 million amiibo, which at the time did not meet the demand of its ravenous fans. At the time, Satoru Iwata acknowledged the supply shortage problem by saying “we are very sorry that we can't promise at what point we will likely be able to resolve the current situation because figures such as these require a considerable amount of time to produce, store shelf space is limited and it is difficult to precisely predict the exact amount of overall demand.”

Given Nintendo was able to double amiibo sales, we think it’s safe to say the company has found a way to meet the demand that’s been set. And with new amiibo still being announced, such as Shovel Knight and Ryu from Street Fighter, we have a feeling its sales will continue to do very, very well.
