2K and Firaxis Games have announced a partnership with Long War Studios, the developers behind the Long War total-conversion mod for XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM: Enemy Within, for XCOM 2.

The Long War Studios team are currently working on multiple mods for XCOM 2, which are currently slated to be available at the launch of the game on February 5, 2016. More information regarding the content of the mods Long War Studios creates will be disclosed at a later date, which we’re sure next week’s Firaxis Megapanel will have a bevy of information.

Are we to infer that the game is launching with mod support?

Or are they just making an exception with these guys and the tools for all are coming later?

They've talked a lot about full mod support for XCOM 2, but I haven't seen mention of it shipping with the game.
