Oculus VR has announced it will open pre-orders for its Oculus Rift at 8am PT on January 6.

The company announced it will begin shipping its Oculus Rift to consumers in Q1 2016, and even though those interested in its Consumer Edition will be able to place pre-orders this week, it’s still unknown how much it will cost as well as when it’ll actually release. The Oculus Rift’s pre-order page says the company will sharing everything we need to know to order the VR headset on Wednesday, when pre-orders go live.

The Oculus Rift will include a copy of Lucky’s Tale by Playful, but only those who pre-order will receive a copy of EVE: Valkyrie as well.

Hopefully with pre-orders being taken on Wednesday, we'll finally learn just how much the Oculus Rift will cost and when they'll become available. We just hope your PC is powerful enough to actually use the Oculus Rift.

I am sad. I should be really excited about this. But now with the Vive delayed, I don't want to buy anything anymore and just wait until the dust settles a bit... DK1, DK2 and skipping the CV1?! What is happening to me?!

Between the likely cost (particularly if you don't already have a blazing-fast GPU) and the market fragmentation, I don't blame you. It doesn't seem to be a technology that will be friendly to early adopters.

I don't blame anyone for sitting on their hands until reviews come in.

I have an *aging* 590gtx that I honestly barely use as it is. My DK2 hasn't really been used for a couple weeks at least. I am honestly tired of sitting down to do VR. I want to get up and move around. I think that's why I want to wait to see if the Vive or the Oculus touch is as good as they say.
