The Division beta release date pushed back to early 2016; Xbox One closed alpha begins Dec. 9
Those looking forward to playing the beta for The Division will be severely disappointed by today's news. Fortunately, there's still a closed alpha taking place this week.
Ubisoft announced it would be launching a beta for The Division on the Xbox One this month with additional platforms soon to follow, but today, the publisher has revealed it’s changing its beta plans around a bit due to the title’s development exceeding its expectations.
The beta for The Division will now take place in early 2016 on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 for those who pre-ordered the game on their respective platforms. Players who pre-ordered the Xbox One version will be given priority access to an exclusive closed alpha testing phase, which will take place between December 9 to December 12. Those who are on the waitlist for the Xbox One alpha may be granted access on an as needed basis.
Considering Ubisoft is allowing players to take part in an early stage of The Division’s alpha, it asks participants not to share images, video, or descriptions of the game’s content outside of its official forums. Players will be prompted to accept a non-disclosure agreement prior to playing the alpha. While we’re sure the majority of participants of the alpha will accept the NDA, we have a feeling there will still be some who decide they’d rather share their experience than adhere to an NDA.
