Broforce rides the lightning with new post-launch update

Just because Broforce is out of Steam Early Access doesn't mean the updates have stopped. Today, Devolver Digital and Free Lives have detailed the game's newest update, which adds a pair of lightning-wielding bros and some new game features.

It looked like the regular Broforce updates would slow down once the game finally made its exit from Steam Early Access. Turns out that assertion was bro-diculous. Devolver Digital and Free Lives aren't slowing down, because now they have a huge bro-st launch update that's hitting the game today.

The newest Broforce updates, called Lightning Strikes Twice, adds a pair of new lightning-wielding bros. Brolander wields a powerful lightning sword, lighting up his foes while declaring, "There can be only bro!" There's also the thunder god Broden. Think less Asgardian and closer to a different klassic game.

The latest update will also feature new tactical items to help out against overwhelming odds. New Covert Ops levels are also available for each individual bro, designed for their unique skill set.

The Lightning Strikes Twice update is available now for free. Broforce is available now on PC with a PlayStation 4 version lined up for early 2016.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
