Gun Media and Illfonic’s project previously known as Summer Camp, which was meant as an homage to the classic slasher flick Friday the 13th, has secured licensing to use the actual name and characters. That includes that most iconic of horror figures, Jason.

A Kickstarter campaign has launched to support the more ambitious scope of the project, aiming for $700,000 in total. Friday the 13th will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. You can check out the trailer below.

not sure how I feel about it. I kinda don't want to see women getting butchered for having sex anymore. Lakeview Cabin is more my style these days for the subject matter.

Evolve left a pretty sharp aftertaste, highlighting the drawbacks of asynchronous game design. I hope Ft13 has taken copious notes and is building on its strengths. Good horror games tend to endure the gauntlet of time far better than other genres.

Do you get to play as Jason? Cause that would be awesome. Getting to go around and find creative ways to kill those little fornicating bastards. Or just hack them to pieces with your giant machete.

That's just it: you're not dealing with the little fornicating bastards from the movies. You're dealing with other players who've sat frustrated like you through all those horror movies and have honed their attack plans to go off-script and defeat you. Because you are defeatable now!

Illfonic? Looks like this game will never get made unless some germans come in to help them out
