Minecraft: Story Mode begins its journey on October 13

It's time to tell the epic story of MInecraft and 'The Order of the Stone' when the first episode of Minecraft: Story Mode arrives in October.

The story of Minecraft is ready to unfold, with Telltale Games officially revealing the release dates for the first chapter of Minecraft: Story Mode. Titled "Order of the Stone," the series will premiere first on Tuesday, October 13.

Minecraft: Story Mode will see players take the role of Jesse, a male or female hero, traveling across the Overworld and exploring the vast reaches of the Minecraft world to find Gabriel the Warrior. They'll meet other Order of the Stone members along the way, as they confront a terrible threat to Overworld and beyond.

Those that attended this year's GameStop Expo may have noticed that Telltale had retail versions of Minecraft: Story Mode already on display. That's because the game will hit retail discs as early as Tuesday, October 27. The disc will contain the first episode and allow users to download new episodes as they're released.

Minecraft: Story Mode will release on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, iOS, and Android in October. Wii U and Vita versions are also in the works, but those won't be ready until 2016.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
