Overwatch beta release date teased with Battle.net launch

The launch of the Overwatch beta was teased by Blizzard today as the company has now included the game within the Battle.net launcher.

Blizzard has been keeping the hype train for its upcoming free-to-play shooter, Overwatch, going for several months with regular character reveals. But today, they’ve pushed the hype train right off the rails by including Overwatch as a selectable game in the Battle.net launcher.

The inclusion of Overwatch lead many to believe its beta had secretly launched, but it appears our dreams of playing the shooter were squashed as Blizzard has yet to launch it. Instead, it appears the inclusion of Overwatch is just a placeholder at this time with a link to the game’s official website to learn more.

The Overwatch beta is expected to launch this fall, and with today’s inclusion of the game on Battle.net, we can’t help but speculate its official launch should be right around the corner. It appears we aren’t the only ones as doing a search for the game on Twitter has shown many Overwatch fans are also speculating its imminent release, as well as having heart attacks over seeing its availability within the Battle.net launcher.

We've reached out to Blizzard to see if they have anything to share regarding Overwatch's launch on Battle.net. We'll update this story accordingly as soon as we hear back from them.
