Yooka-Laylee developers join with The Escapists/Worms publisher

Yooka-Laylee should ideally have no trouble sticking to its late 2016 release window, especially since Team17 has just jumped on board as the game's publisher.

Let's stick with Kickstarter stories for $1000, Alex. Another recent high-profile Kickstarter was Yooka-Laylee, a Banjo-Kazooie-inspired effort from its original creative team at Playtonic. This campaign shattered its 175,000 pound goal, raising over 2 million pounds (roughly over $3.25M). Now it looks like Yooka-Laylee has found a publisher to partner up with and help release the game to the masses.

Team17, known for The Escapists and the Worms series, will lend additional resources to Playtonic. The publisher will contribute localization resources, QA testers, and other resources to help assist in Yooka-Laylee's development. In the meantime, Playtonic will focus their efforts more on the game's creative and design elements.

Team17's assistance will help ensure that Yooka-Laylee maintains its projected October 2016 release. The game is set to come to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U.
