NIS America has announced Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance will be releasing on October 6 in North America and October 9 in Europe.

Disgaea 5 marks the sixth home console entry to the legendary Disgaea series and the first that’s made the jump to current-gen consoles. Players will experience a tale of revenge and rebellion as a new and terrible Overlord named Void Dark seeks to enslave the countless Netherworlds. One young demon, Killia, is standing up against him and it’s up to the player to lead him and his army of rebels to stop Void Dark.

A special Launch Edition of Disgaea 5 will be available across North American retailers that includes the game, a reversible cover, 32-page art book, and an original soundtrack, all of which is presented in a collector’s box.

Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance was previously announced to be releasing in the fall of 2015, and with today’s announcement, we’re getting close to experience one of NIS America’s most popular franchises on the PlayStation 4.

I mostly wrote off these games as anime fodder. What's the scoop on this series? Is it cool or is it whack?

I usually think of them as the very essence of grinding.

If you enjoy strategy RPG games like Final Fantasy Tactics, give it a try.

Tactics Ogre / Final Fantasy Tactics with a lot of whackiness and all of it taken to the ridiculous extreme.

The Disgaea ones are the best, all sorts of crazy shit but still fun.

It's really fucking good. Kinda devolves into lots of grinding, but it has the depth and breadth of systems to make it all feel worthwhile. I've spent hundreds of hours playing the various games in the series.

Played the first two. They were awesome. Great voice acting and the game is pretty light hearted.
