Fallout 4 tentatively listed for 2015 release

With a game as grand as Fallout 4, the natural assumption is that it'll release in 2016 or beyond. So why are retailers (including Bethesda) listing it as a 2015 release?

There's been a lot of excitement for this morning's big Fallout 4 announcement. Shacknews has been speculating all day about what the game will contain, speculating on potential plot points and breaking down the trailer.

While a release date was not revealed, common wisdom would appear to point to a 2016 release date. However, all signs appear to point otherwise. NeoGAF has observed tentative 2015 release windows across a variety of retailers, including Bethesda's own store. The same 2015 window is currently on Amazon, GameStop, and Green Man Gaming.

There's naturally a window to push this release date back, but Bethesda does not appear to be going out of its way to deny this. More information on the release window is likely expected during the official Bethesda E3 Showcase, taking place on June 14 on Twitch and YouTube.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
