The Assassin's Creed series is going in something of a different direction with this week's 2.5D side story, Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China. Today, Ubisoft is releasing a new trailer, while offering some new details on the game's story.

Chronicles follows Chinese assassin Shao Jun, a refugee that fled to the West following the Jiajing Emperor's purge of the Chinese Brotherhood of Assassins. After completing her training under Assassin's Creed II frontman Ezio Auditore, Shao Jun returns to China to seek revenge for her fallen brothers by killing the Emperor. Chronicles will introduce new locales, like the Maijishan Grottoes, Port of Macau, the Forbidden City, and the Great Wall of China.

Assassin's Creed Chronicles arrives tomorrow on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 for $9.99. For more, check out the trailer below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
