Mortal Kombat X has quite the laundry list of playable characters, but it’s still strange to see some notable characters from its series missing in its latest iteration. What might be worse than characters being completely cut out is seeing your favorite character be included in Mortal Kombat X, but currently unplayable. Characters like Rain and Baraka can be fought against, but can’t be played as, but some crafty players have figured out how to play as them on the PC version of Mortal Kombat X.

Reddit user XVermillion did some digging into Mortal Kombat X’s sweet innards and found some files that can be modified to allow previously unplayable characters to become available. The way this was done was by modifying a currently playable character with assets of an unplayable character, in this case, Shinnok was replaced with Rain. As you can see from the video below, XVermillion is playing with what the game believes is Shinnok, but he’s using Rain’s model and moveset. He also shows Baraka and Sindel as playable characters.

WBIE and NetherRealm Studios have already announced Mortal Kombat X will receive additional characters in the form of DLC in its future, which means we could very well see characters like Rain and Baraka be playable. But if either of those are your primary characters, then you’re going to want to try this trick out for yourself. Just remember to modify responsibly by backing up your files.
