Project Cars gets guaranteed May release date [Update]

It's been a long time coming, but Project Cars may finally make its way across the development finish line.

Project Cars finally has a guaranteed release date.

After severalmonths of delays, Bandai Namco UK has confirmed Project Cars will be released on May 8 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Bandai Namco has yet to announce an official US release date for the title, but Shacknews has reached out to them to confirm whether or not the region can also expect a May release. As for the Wii U version, there’s been no mention as to when Nintendo fans can get their respective version of Project Cars.

Slightly Mad Studios’ head Ian Bell revealed the reason why Project Cars received such extensive delays was due to the complexity behind detecting all of the game’s final bugs. Judging by the six-month delay, we guess there were quite a few complex bugs the studio felt they needed to squash prior to its official release.

Now that Forza Horizon 2, Driveclub, and The Crew are all out in the wild, Project Cars’ “guaranteed” May release should be a driving game that goes unopposed for a few months until a new racing game is introduced. Whether or not it’s an actual good racing game is yet to be seen, but we do know that it does look pretty.

[Update: Bandai Namco informed Shacknews the PC version of Project Cars will launch on May 6 while the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will launch on May 12.]
