Activision made some news earlier this week with the revival of the Guitar Hero franchise. Guitar Hero Live is set to rock out this fall, but Activision and Freestyle Games wasted no time in showing off what they have available. And our resident rockers, Andrew Zucosky and Joe Tirado, went out to find out more about the upcoming game.

In-between stage dives and plastic instrument shredding, Andrew spoke to project director Jonathan Napier about the decision behind bringing the Guitar Hero franchise out of hibernation. He also talks about the decision to introduce the first-person perspective and piece together the concert atmosphere. And of course, there's plenty of talk about the new hardware, with Napier talking about the new six-button layout.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
