Splatoon adds Battle Dojo and Splatoon Amiibo

Amiibo is the new hotness and Nintendo's new IP, Splatoon, isn't about to be left out of the action.

Today's Nintendo Direct offered some new details on Splatoon, showing off a few new game modes. Namely, they're the modes that were discussed with our own Andrew Zucosky earlier in March, called Ranked Battles. However, they also revealed Battle Dojo, where two players compete on the TV screen and on the GamePad to try and pop the most balloons.

And since Amiibo is the new hotness, Splatoon will be getting its own Amiibo sets. Inkling Amiibo will be available individually, while a set of two Inklings and a Squid will also comes as a single package. The Amiibo will unlock new costume pieces and weapons for Splatoon's game modes. The Splatoon Amiibo are set to arrive on May 29.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
