MLB 15: The Show adds licensed equipment for Universal Rewards

MLB 15: The Show is upping the authenticity factor this year by adding licensed equipment that will tie in to player performance.

MLB: The Show has nailed down the various nuances of baseball, making it one of the best baseball gaming games out there. Now MLB 15: The Show is going the extra mile to look the part by adding licensed equipment.

Beyond adding to the game's visual aesthetic, the addition of brand name items also plays into MLB 15: The Show's Franchise mode. Brand Sponsorship contracts add team budget incentives that are tied to performance on a certain stat. Licensed items will also play into Road to the Show, which will offer various skill boosts.

PlayStation.Blog has more on the addition of licensed items and Universal rewards, as does the video below. MLB 15: The Show is set to release on March 31.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
