Remember when we mentioned earlier today that Blizzard was preparing for Hearthstone's Goblins vs. Gnomes expansion? As it turns out, they have a release date in mind. The new expansion will hit PC and iOS this coming Monday, December 8.

Battle.net has the full announcement. Goblins vs. Gnomes will change Hearthstone in several ways, adding 120 new cards that can be crafted, purchased, or won through Arena mode. Among those cards are new class-specific minions and spells, as well as new minion types like Mechs.

The mayhem begins on Monday in the Americas, Southeasr Asia, and Oceania. Folks in Europe, Korea, Taiwan, and China will have to wait one more day for December 9.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

How are they actually releasing the cards? Just putting them into the normal packs, or will they have their own packs in the store?

They will have their own separate packs that can be purchased or won in Arena, just like normal packs.

No cost. The packs just go into the game, as far as I know.

Rewards are always random in Arena, so I'd imagine this will fall under that.

The arena will only reward GvG packs.

Yeah, at least for a while. I suspect at some point after the launch period they'll go back to the standard packs or offer a choice. Also, according to some Reddit dataminers, playing during the "launch period" gets you three free packs and a free Arena run. So basically at least four free packs.

Awesome! I love free packs. Supposedly you can get another one if you try the Android version too.

Yes. Much to my dismay. I really like Paladin and was hoping this would give him a leg up, but he got the worst Legendary.

Shaman got one that will only work in a murloc deck.

I've learned to take a wait-and-see approach the basically everything.

Bolivar seems like a pretty interesting pairing with Tirion on a control paladin deck. Neither card really wants to be played on-turn, meaning both end up sitting in hand until far into the late game. Going one into the other demands a lot of removal.

OTOH, Bolivar in a midrange deck could be interesting as well.

I haven't played since the first wing of Naxx came out. I should go back and fool around a bit. Some of the new cards look pretty fun!
