Mewtwo fans will be happy to hear they don't need to own Super Smash Bros. on both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U now that Nintendo has announced the character will be made available as paid downloadable content.

Super Smash Bros for Wii U is just under 24 hours from being released, and today, Nintendo has announced the previously exclusive Mewtwo DLC will be available to purchase.

Mewtwo was originally planned to be available for those who own a copy of Super Smash Bros. on both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, leaving those who don’t own both systems feeling left out. Because of this, Nintendo has confirmed Mewtwo will be made available to purchase as add-on content sometime in the future.

Those who own a copy of Super Smash Bros. on both of Nintendo’s systems will be able to receive Mewtwo for free, as long as they register both version of the game with their Club Nintendo account prior to March 31, 2015. Once both copies are registered, NIntendo will send out a code for players to access Mewtwo on both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U versions of Super Smash Bros.

Mewtwo is expected to be released in spring 2015, although Nintendo didn’t go into specifics as to how much the character will cost for those who only own a single copy of Super Smash Bros.
