In an event that somehow manages to be both long awaited and unexpected, XCOM: Enemy Within (the standalone expansion to Enemy Unknown) is coming to iOS and Android devices tomorrow, November 13, 2014. This must be some sort of alien sneak attack on mobile devices. The critically acclaimed turn-based strategy game will cost $12.99, and will be available through the App Store, Google Play, and Amazon AppStore.

The game impoves on Enemy Unknown's gameplay with additional story elements, new units,  new enemies, and technologies that include both genetic and cybernetic enhancements. Enemy Within runs on an iPad 3,  iPad mini 2, iPhone 5 or more recent device, and will not run on any earlier generations. Also, multiplayer will not be available on Amazon devices.

XCOM: Enemy Within originally released on November 11, 2013 as a standalone game for the Xbox 360 and PS3, and as an expansion to Enemy Unknown on PC and Mac.

Awesome. I used to have an HTC Windows Mobile phone and the best thing about it was that someone did a port of XCOM that actually ran really well.

I'm hoping this one works on the 2012 Nexus 7. I can't keep enough free space on my phone to keep the first one installed.

Hmmm... How's the performance like? And is it the same game as the desktop version, or just a gimped version?

Enemy Unknown was a port of the full game with some touch specific modifications but no dumbing down

I really enjoyed Enemy Unknown's iPad port. Didn't notice any slowdown whatsoever and the touch controls were pretty intuitive. Expensive, but worth it, unlike Deus Ex: The Fall.

I'd love to play this but not switching back to android or apple. I really love my Nokia Icon, and the windows 8.1 is incredible. Makes me sad devs don't support. I understand the user base is small, but it is the chicken or egg.... people won't use windows phone because of the apps, devs wont produce apps because of the user base. Bottom line is people are missing out on great phones.
