For any gaming enthusiast that's on a budget, Black Friday is often the best time to look out for deals that will help make the pain in their wallet a little lighter. Of course, there are often so many deals in place that the pain gets more intense, but that's another story.
This Black Friday promises copious amounts of deals across the gaming spectrum and Shacknews is here to help keep them all straight.
Before we get to the Black Friday deals, we'd like to offer some quick pointers:
- Shop around and compare prices - Many of the console bundles that you'll find at certain retailers will likely be offered across all major retailers. So that Xbox One bundle that you see at a Target may just as well be available at a GameStop, so use your best judgement and pick a place that will be unlikely to sell out. That leads me to...
- Shop online - Suffering through long lines and cold winter nights is for suckers. Many of the best deals will be available across a variety of online retailers. That console bundle you see at Best Buy will more than likely be available on their website with free shipping, saving you tons of headaches. The list of retailers also includes Amazon, who will often provide a window as to when certain games and bundles will go on sale. With that said...
- Act fast and refresh quickly - Amazon deals, in particular, will sell out quickly if you don't act within the first couple of minutes. So when you see the Gold Box calendar pop up, plan your time accordingly.
- Redeem any promo credit you may have - It's easy to get gift cards to any of these retailers. Whether you've been shopping at Target, racking up My Best Buy reward points, or even searching on Bing for Amazon credit, there are easy ways to grab promo rewards. This is the time to use them.
- DO NOT risk the Wal-Mart rush - This almost goes without saying. Sure, the low prices of a Wal-Mart may seem enticing. Don't fall for it. Security at Wal-Marts is often lax and I've seen all-out brawls break out. For your own safety, avoid Wal-Mart stores. Try their website, instead.
- Keep an eye on online PC gaming stores, too - This is for the PC gamers in our audience. Don't look for Steam, Green Man Gaming, or the like to be outdone by big-name retailers. Look for them to respond with their own major deals, without any of the pressure of limited stock.
