PS4 users get free multiplayer this weekend

If you have a PS4, but don't have PlayStation Plus, you'll get to use the console's multiplayer features for free this weekend.

Sony's undoubtedly had the lion's share of high-profile games over the past month, getting the bulk of the promotion for multi-platform high-profile releases like Destiny and Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes. With more eyeballs hitting Sony's PlayStation 4, the publisher is offering up a free weekend of multiplayer to all of its customers.

PlayStation.Blog notes that PS4 users will get free online multiplayer starting Friday, September 26 from 12:01AM PDT through Sunday, September 28 at 11:59PM PDT. Anything outside of those hours, of course, will require a PlayStation Plus membership.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
