While 343 Industries is doing all it can to push the Halo series forward from a gaming perspective, the studio also has grand plans for the series' vaunted lore. That's where Halo: Nightfall comes in. The Xbox-exclusive television series is set to debut this fall on the Halo Channel and Shacknews caught up with 343 Industries franchise development director Frank O'Connor to learn more about it.

O'Connor called Nightfall the spiritual successor to Forward Unto Dawn, calling this new series "more direct and on a larger scale." O'Connor takes a couple of minutes to discuss the show's filming in Iceland and some of the story beats that fans can expect to see when the series begins.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
