Let's face it. It's been a terrible couple of weeks for the NFL, from a PR standpoint. So maybe it isn't such a crazy idea to try and launch a new football game without the NFL license right now. That's what Blood Bowl creators Cyanide Studios are about to attempt and they have just the old-school license to take the field with, reviving the 1992 PC classic management sim, Front Page Sports Football.

Just as in the Dynamix original, Front Page Sports Football relies heavily on player stats and strategy. Playbooks feature over 2,300 plays, broken down across 80 offensive and 60 defensive strategies. The right play will depend on the player, with all of their stats varying across weight, agility, speed, morale, fame, and more.

Front Page Sports Football takes the gridiron on September 25 for PC for $19.99.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
