Hidden Path Entertainment's sequel Defense Grid 2 has been in production for a while now, as we've seen it at the last few PAX events. It keeps getting better each time we see it, though, and now it appears that it's nearing the finish line.

The publisher announced today that the game, which is a sequel to 2008's Defense Grid: The Awakening, will be available on September 23. In addition to its pre-announced release on Steam/PC, the game will also be available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with reconfigured controls that work ideally with a controller.

The game will feature 21 new maps, as well as online PVP and multiplayer co-op modes, and a bunch of other goodies. Oh, and did we mention how good those laser turrets are? Because they are.

Defense Grid 2 is likely to sell for $24.99, although there's currently a 10 percent discount over on Steam if you pre-order.
