Respawn to stream Titanfall Frontier's Edge DLC gameplay. Watch it here! [Update: Coming July 31]

Respawn is offering a first look at the new gameplay for Titanfall's upcoming Frontier's Edge DLC today at 12PM PDT. Let's watch it together!

Update: The Titanfall stream is wrapping up. Here's what we've come away with so far.

1. The Frontier's Edge DLC will be available on July 31.

2. The Black Market being added in the next update will use in-game currency to buy Burn Card packs, emblems, etc. Black Market currency can be earned through achievements, daily challenges, and discarding excess Burn Cards.

3. New achievements will be added with the next update.

4. Multi-GPU support is being added for PC users.

5. Patch notes will be posted next week.

6. Gen 1 players (launch players) will get a special emblem to indicate their status as early adopters.

7. Marked for Death and other "limited time only" game modes will remain available in Private Matches, even after they're taken out of public playlists.

8. Framerate and performance optimizations are coming in the next patch, addressing issues like screen tearing across both Xbox One and PC.

The team then played through the game's three maps. Here are some brief impressions.

Export: A mining town filled with warehouses and zip lines connecting them. The map includes electric fences as hazards to Pilots and Titans. Choke points are located along the bottom of the map.

Haven: A futuristic city setting, with towering hotel resorts. Respawn described it as "Space Vegas." Hotels and nightclubs are large enough that they fit Titans along the bottom floor, while Pilots can scramble up each story and do battle in individual rooms.

Dig Site: An open map that takes place in a mining area. Construction equipment and facilities are built over a barren planet. Respawn says that it adds a "Total Recall" vibe.

For more, watch the archived stream below.

Original story: Respawn is preparing to deploy the next piece of Titanfall's planned Season Pass content. Frontier's Edge looks to add another three maps to the mech-based shooter, though there hasn't been a lot revealed in terms of gameplay. That's about to change today.

The studio is taking to their Twitch channel today to show off Frontier's Edge's three maps: Dig Site, Haven, and Export. The presentation will then be followed by a live Q&A from the developers. A release date is also likely to be announced, so if you're eager for more Titanfall action, be sure to watch the live stream below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

I really wanted to like Titanfall but the CoD business model they are following doesn't really provide me with a lot of hope for building a community a la TF2.

I'm sure they made a ton of money, but the game just ends up being pretty stagnant after a while. Which works for them because, hey, new sequel coming out a year later!

I don't really care for COD: Ghosts, but they definitely have an at least somewhat acceptable approach to DLC (if you presume to consider DLC acceptable at all) that has evolved over the years from previous COD offerings.

Basically, they include 3 new maps, plus one map remake, and a 'Horde Mode' map which by itself can make the DLC a purchase worth making (if you're into that sort of thing). Also, they include some new gimmick, be it a special character appearance and/or a new gun.

Obviously, TitanFall DLC can't include remake maps yet but three maps is definitely not quite enough. They need some catch or gimmick to help make these map packs sell so that more people play them.

Here are some obvious DLC ideas...

More game modes. I mean, how is there not an Arena-based football mode for this game like they've had in Halo for years now?!?!

Special characters / skins. Just do the obvious Transformers tie-in already and let me play as Megatron.

Non-Titan vehicles. Releasing more Titan chassis for this game would likely cause too much imbalance. But you could add in hoverboards or some other transportation mode like we used to have in Unreal Tournament.

I'd like to see some analysis on the game reporters to figure out what is really working on the business side.

Obviously EA and Activision have picked the locked down very corporate methods. Valve is basically 'sure whatever'.

Wonder which method produces bigger money hats.

I'd actually like to see some more SP content too. I mean the story was lean, but it was kind of cool and fun and the maps could be reused in the multiplayer rotations.

wait this game had SP? where? i enjoy the game but there isn't any single player too it. i would love to find out more as to why this battle is going on and what is the cause. give me a reason to actually fight.

No, it had "Campaign Multiplayer." You play Attrition or Hard Point (it's predetermined depending on the specific campaign map) on the regular MP maps and there's a few small scripted sequences and a bunch of voiceover that amounts to a radio play.

Its also impossible to actually play now because nobody wants to do it at all.

I tried off and on for a few hours yesterday to do it. No players at all. :(

If you play late/early, try changing data centers?

It bounces you through data centers if nobody is in queue for a game type. Still no luck.

I'm sure the story is crappy. I just wanted to take a peek at it if possible.

r/Titanfall has a day of the week where they try and get campaign play going. Tuesdays maybe? I can't remember, the next time I see it come up I'll SM you.

Didn't they change it so campaign is longer necessary for the titan chassis unlocks? Probably even less people interested in doing it than before.

Yes they did. I think they just unlock as you climb to 50 for the first time.

I don't understand #5. Unless you mean people who've had the game for a long time but never regenerated?

I missed the beginning. For #1 did they say you could buy specific BCs or are they going to be random packs?

OK, so the packs are random but they have types. Standard, Tactical, Ability, Titan, etc. For sure you can sell burn cards you don't want, dunno if there's another way to earn credits.

Haven's actually looking pretty neat. Very Battlefield/CoD-style, in the sense that it's a giant city playground.

Some of the dudes are decent at least though.

I'm wondering how much (if any??) is because the streams are always XBone and some of the devs (I hope) prefer PC?

Also, new weapons (or a significant changes to existing weapons) is the only thing that would bring me back to Titanfall.
