The Evil Within begins its haunt on October 14

The Evil Within is still coming in October, only slightly earlier.

Those looking for a taste of Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami's next survival horror experience will now get to do so a week earlier. Bethesda announced at today's QuakeCon opening festivities that The Evil Within's release date is being bumped up by a week, going from October 21 to October 14.

The Evil Within was originally slated to release on August 26 before getting its new October window. Bethesda had previously cited that they had wanted to release the game closer to Halloween, something this neweset release date curiously strays away from.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
