Destiny beta will hit Xbox platforms in July

Destiny's beta has already been given a July 17 deployment date, but Xbox's Major Nelson adds that the Xbox beta will begin no later than July 31.

Bungie and Activision have previously given a priority Destiny date to PlayStation consoles, setting it for a July 17 start date. However, Xbox users won't have to wait too much longer. Their beta start date will begin before the end of July.

The Destiny website has the beta kicking off on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on its scheduled July 17 date, while adding that Xbox platforms will begin "soon after." However, Xbox's Major Nelson further narrowed the window on Twitter by noting that a July deployment date has been confirmed for both Xbox One and Xbox 360.

The beta is set to build on what originally debuted in the game's alpha, with Bungie having taken enough player feedback in to run a feature-locked product.

For those that have pre-ordered Destiny already, the beta code can be redeemed now on the game's website.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
