After several leaks derailed the surprise factor, Visceral Games took the stage to reveal more of Battlefield: Hardline. This time, the studio was ready to show off some of the game's multiplayer and also reveal that the closed beta is open now on PC and PS4.

Much of the multiplayer should look familiar to Battlefield fans, but it's all surrounded by an action-filled urban environments. Police cars swoop in every few seconds, giving the game more of a Grand Theft Auto feel. Explosives and rocket launchers were on full display, which served to show off the game's destructible environments. The demo ended with an intense chase sequence, which had the criminals fleeing police barricades and incoming backup squads. Check out the full multiplayer demo from the perspective of both cops and robbers by watching the video below.

Battlefield 4 owners can simply access their copies of the game in order to find the Hardline beta or sign up on the official site. It's first-come, first-serve, so go! Now!

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Visceral is making it right, makers of Dead Space? And from the leaks I've seen it has a SP campaign where you're an undercover cop.

Yeah I guess I was just assuming that being a battlefield game the SP would be so secondary that it's not worth buying it if not for the MP.

The entire MP sequence looked massively scripted (and also still uses BF4's UI, so it really is a glorified mod). I doubt matches will actually play out like that, judging by the 2 stage capture points it's going to be something like rush, push in, steal shit, get out via waypoints/actions.

              You can hipline anywhere but:

              - it has to be at a target that is in line or below you and within a certain range. IE you can't zipline clear across a map but you can from the roof of one building to another. I'll need to play more to get a good feel for the range.

It's super weird that every cop & robber in this world also has the BF standard infinite parachute. It's more fun than dying form every drop above 15 feet, but they have ziplines and grappling hooks and shit at their disposal so why not force you to use those to repel and scale buildings or transfer from one to another instead?

Hardline really feels like it could have been a BF4 expansion, or user made mod if the game allowed modding and had tools. It's the same game with some minor tweaks.
