May 4 is rapidly approaching and that means it's almost time to celebrate Star Wars Day. It's only appropriate that BioWare get in on the fun, too, so the studio is planning a Star Wars Day celebration for Star Wars: The Old Republic with a double XP weekend and a free droid mini-pet.

"We're excited to announce that in honor of Star Wars Day and as a thank you to you, our players, we're giving away the new MT-4T Astromech Droid Mini-Pet to the entire Star Wars: The Old Republic community!" reads the announcement on the SWTOR website.

Players can claim their trusty new droid starting on Tuesday, April 29 and use it for any of their light or dark side characters. Those that don't have an Old Republic account can register before the end of Star Wars Day to receive their droid.

Star Wars: The Old Republic will also offer double XP from Friday, May 2 at 11AM PDT through Monday, May 5 at 12AM PDT, just in time to head to Coruscant's Dealers Den Cantina for Cinco de Mayo.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
