Video: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes completed in ten minutes

Our Steve beat the game in about two hours, but if you know what you're doing, you can speed-through the game in ten minutes.

As noted in our review, Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes is very short. Our Steve beat the game in about two hours, but if you know what you're doing and skip optional objectives, you can speed through the game in ten minutes.

That's precisely what Eurogamer did, and here's the video for proof:

Why are so many outlets making such a big deal out of the game's length? This isn't a slight against Shack; I've seen so many stories today about how MGS5: GZ can be completed in 2 hours, 1 hour, 10 minutes. Why is this newsworthy? Honestly curious.

Because it's a high-profile release and a lot of people think $30 is a bit much for a two hour game. I'm not saying one way or the other personally though, I haven't played it.

Does that take into account all of the side stuff, though? There just seems to be such a focus on the destination instead of the journey. This is a MGS game, after all, and an open-world design to boot.

I think part of that is because this game is just a prologue for the real game. We've known for a while and basically been told "this won't be the real game". So people are already looking at from this angle when we find out it's $30 (on the new consoles), half the price of the MGS game we know is coming next year, yet we're getting what is obviously *FAR* less than half the amount of content, story, gameplay, etc. It seems like a pretty shitty deal.

        because of the price

Because when they did this crap with MGS2 at least you got Zone of the Enders too. It didn't seem like a cash grab like this kind of does.

It's adding to the perception that this is a glorified demo. Whether you have that view ultimately depends on your perspective, because I've heard views from both sides of the fence. One of my friends feel genuinely ripped off, while another one is really enjoying the game and going out of her way to explore every inch of it.

How long is the game if you explored every inch?

i hate that argument, because you could spend days/weeks/months exploring every inch of Bubsy 3d and it would still be a dumb experience.

baldurs gate 2 story was kinda short, but side quests can easily put it at 50+ hours

Seriously. It's the gameplay of a demo with a $30 price tag. That's kind of bullshit.

most games from AAA developers can't be completed in such a short time. It is only $30 but still, that seems pretty short for a $30 game.

I've been playing the extra side ops you unlock and it's been really fun. Plus we've been having other people tackle the main campaign to see how they handle it. Really satisfied with my purchase.

I'm diehard MGS fanboy, but I'll even attest that turning this into an individual product was a greedy and stupid mistake. They could have packaged this with Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 and wouldn't have had as much flack. Essentially this is about as equal value as the Tanker Mission demo of MGS2 that came with Zone of the Enders.

I agree that charging twenty to thirty for it was a mistake (it probably should have been fifteen) I'd still rather pay 30 for it than have to spend 60 to get a game I don't want along with it.

My buddy keeps telling me that this speed run, they are not actually beating the game and there are more missions after this one that you unlock soon as you complete the first one. Is this true?

I've played like 12 or so hours so far and its more than what you would expect from a demo but less than what you would expect from the price. The content is top notch and for me is one of the best stealth games I've ever played but for someone who likes to play a game for its story or who doesn't want to play the missions over and over for better rankings and to experiment with different approaches and weapons will not get anything much out of it.
