Costume Quest is getting a sequel that will hit this year, Double Fine has announced. Costume Quest 2 will once again feature Wren and Reynold in another costume-fueled RPG that promises more refined mechanics. It's due sometime around Halloween for PC and unspecified consoles.

“I saw [a sequel] more as a demand,” Double Fine head Tim Schafer told IGN. “I don’t know that I had much choice in the matter. It is that game, you can’t slip that schedule,” Schafer explained. “It’s the kind of game you always want to revisit, there’s such a great core to it.” Schaefer also said that it's in full production and "got up and running really fast."

The original Costume Quest received a generally positive reception for its cute take on classic RPG mechanics.

Great, will definitely play this. The first one captured the feel of trick or treating on Halloween perfectly.

I liked Costume Quest well enough, but I'm more interested in playing Hack n Slash. Did that get canned? Is it going to make this year if it's still alive?
