Atlus will release the original Shin Megami Tensei for iOS devices next month. The classic dungeon-crawler appeared on the Super Famicom (aka Super NES) in Japan. It started the series, and eventually led to the Persona series spin-off as well. Fans who want to get in touch with their roots will be able to play the original on March 18 for $7.99.
The original game looks a good bit rougher than its modern incarnations, seeing as every hallway is geometric blocks, but it laid the groundwork for a lot of ideas that have remained throughout the series. Specifically, you can communicate with demons and recruit them to fight on your behalf, and even fuse them to create new demons for your roster. Check out the trailer below:
