Titanfall free in limited Xbox One console bundle

Titanfall is perhaps the first big system-selling exclusive for Xbox One, even though it is on PC and Xbox 360 too. If you're umming and ahhing about picking the console up for it, a new limited edition bundle coming in March may make your mind up, as it essentially adds Titanfall for free into the regular $499.99 package.

Along with everything one gets for $499.99 with an Xbox One anyway--the console, Kinect, one wireless controller, a headset, and a month of Xbox Live Gold--the bundle includes a code to download Titanfall. The game otherwise costs $59.99, but it's pretty much free here.

The controller included is a regular one, not the limited edition Titanfall controller, but it's hard to quibble over such a solid deal.

It'll launch in "selected retailers" alongside the game on March 11. Microsoft didn't specify quite how "limited" this bundle is, but as there's no reason to buy the regular bundle over this one, it may not last too long. Pre-orders are up now on the Microsoft Store.

Congrats, Microsoft, you finally tipped me over the edge. Titanfall is currently this console's ONLY killer app, and the only game right now that I would consider buying an Xbox One just to be able to play. I'm disappointed that the console didn't get an exclusive skin, or throw in the Limited Edition controller (talk about a missed opportunity to make this bundle even more special), but getting Titanfall for free was enough to get me to cave. Better start clearing some space next to my PS4.

I think they are doing a good thing by including the DIGITAL version of Titanfall to let it showcase the digital fast-switching of titles. I'm really thinking of buying the digital version of Titanfall myself.

Could you elaborate on the "digital fast-switching of titles?" Obviously nothing is analog, so I don't know why some ones and zeros are treated differently. 360 owner, here, so I haven't a clue about this feature.

I think he just means you can switch between digital games without having to get up and put a different blueray drive in

Man, that would be time consuming if you had to swap out the drive every time.

I'm not sure I'd call "never getting up off your ass" a feature.

Why are you guys hung up on the month versus year of Live? Has Sony ever thrown in a year of PSN in a special console?

Just back away slowly from this thread... nothing you say is going to dissuade the hate. This deal could have included a PS4 and a HJ and people would still complain.

The caveat here is other Xboxes come with a free month FOR NEW ACCOUNTS ONLY. This is a 1-month code good for ANY account.

Why not make it a life time sub to xbox live if the game requires it?

I don't want a limited edition Titanfall console. It's going to sit in my living room for years, and I want it to aesthetically match my other items. If it was colored like a gay space taxi I wouldn't buy it.

        1. Don't care about special controller / paint job.
        2. I already have a year Gold from the 360 since I recently renewed my sub.
        3. I really want to play Titanfall and Dead Rising 3 and I now save £30-70.

How is that a bad thing?

Well, it's a big Xbox One exclusive. Two, they are giving you the digital version, which helps push the digital aspects of the Xbox One, and also keeps you from taking it straight to GameStop and getting your money back.

Yea, I don't care that I bought an Xbox One at launch and didn't get a pack in game. It doesn't bother me they are doing this, if anything it helps push the console into more homes which is better for everyone.

This sale is just to get people who are planning getting an Xbox One anyway, to get it now instead of later by offering them a free game. I'm one of those, worked like a charm. Everyone else, ie. people like you (not in a bad way), will continue to wait.

I would be less likely to buy this if it came with a special edition 12 year old paint job.
