Final Fantasy X/X-2 trailer celebrates Tidus and Yuna's romance

A new Final Fantasy X/X-2 trailer focuses on Tidus and Yuna's romance, just in time for Valentine's Day.

Valentine's Day is almost upon us, which means it's the time for romance. Square Enix has decided to capitalize on that, by putting out a lovey-dovey trailer for Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster starring the star-crossed Final Fantasy lovebirds.

It's an age-old story: boy finds girl; boy learns girl intends to sacrifice herself in futile attempt to stave off repeated apocalypse; girl forms pop trio to find boy. You know, romance! The trailer serves to remind us of the still quite lovely song Suteki Da Ne, and the not-quite-as-timeless voice acting. FFX/X-2 Remaster is due on March 18 for PlayStation 3 and Vita.

Tidus looks strangely asian in some cutscenes and than completely caucasian in other areas of the game.

Compare that to Yuna who looks like she has Down Syndrome in cutscenes and normal through the rest of the game.

This is due to the CGI cut scenes being created by a separate team that had nothing else to do with the game. Many times work on the CGI cut scenes is started before the script and other elements of the game are finalized due to how long it takes to complete them. This is what reportedly happened with FF13, the devs had to rework several things in the game to fit around the CGI cutscenes.

The square game making machine is a wreck. They have too many independent heads doing different things without enough overall guidance. Those articles about the amount of wasted assets created for FF13 were stunning. Waste assets are partially why we got 2 more games.

Honestly this is my most anticipated game of this year. Strange I know, but I don't have any of the new systems (and no plan on picking them up any time soon) and FFX was always my favorite, so I can't wait to play this again in HD.
