Zen Studios' CastleStorm is ready to march onto a new platform next week. The developer announced today that the tower defense game is slated to storm onto Wii U through the Nintendo eShop on December 26, just in time for the post-holiday rush.

According to the Zen Studios blog (via Polygon), the Wii U version of CastleStorm will utilize the Wii U GamePad, with players able to play the full game on the GamePad screen with touch controls. There will also be local multiplayer, with one player using the GamePad and a second player using the TV and a Wii U Pro Controller.

CastleStorm will be available for $9.99, with the game's two DLC packs (From Outcast to Savior and The Warrior Queen) set to come at a later, unspecified date.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
