Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition for next-gen consoles spotted at retail

Amazon Italy has listed a "Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition" for PlayStation 4, promising all the DLC included.

Wouldn't you know it, Tomb Raider appears to be getting a next-gen edition with all of its downloadable content in tow. The "Definitive Edition" was spotted at an online retailer, complete with a listing of the extra goodies included.

Amazon Italy (via DualShockers) lists the special set for PlayStation 4, though it also lists a second "platform unknown" entry that could be a placeholder for Xbox One. It's said to include all of the DLC, and pre-orders include special packaging with an art book. Presumably, as a next-gen version, the visuals would get a boost as well.

The listing has the release slated for January 24, though even if accurate, its North American release probably wouldn't fall on the same date. Shacknews has contacted Square Enix regarding the rumor, and will update as more information becomes available.

That's probably a good idea. I found myself playing AC4 on my PS4 and thinking... I wouldn't mind playing a really nice and pretty Tomb Raider on this shiny new system.

I wouldn't mind either, though I'm not sure I'd be down for buying the last one again. I definitely look forward to what they do next though.

I actually haven't played it yet, so it's kind of interesting to me at least.

Oh, then you absolutely should be excited about this. It's a fantastic game and one of the more enjoyable 3rd person action/adventure titles I can remember for several years.

So next gen comes out and developers went, "Awesome! Lets make HHD remakes!"

I wonder how easy it will be for them this time around, will they just be porting the PC versions of these last gen games over?

If it's not a ton of work, could end up seeing a lot of it.

^^^^ This. I just finished it on PS3, but I would absolutely buy the system to play it again.

Technically this wouldn't be a remake of any kind because the PC version was pretty gorgeous. This would really just be a console version which can actually look as nice as the PC version (or close to it).

It took me months to get back to this year's Tomb Raider but it's actually pretty good!

Woudln't mind seeing other games that pushed the limit of last gen.

Skyrim could use a port such as this.

If they could make Skyrim look pretty enough on PS4, I'd totally buy the stupid thing again, but I just like having an excuse to give Bethesda money.

I thought the game failed to sell well enough. If that is so than why are they continuing to invest in a sinking ship?

Because it's still selling. As in, not sinking.

It sold well but failed to meet sales projections. It's just a way for Square Japan to fuck with the western arm in an effort to cover up their own abysmal performance.

I hope the Last of Us gets a "definitive edition".
