Yet another World of Warcraft expansion has been revealed. Warlords of Draenor "sends players to the savage world of Draenor, home of the mighty orcs and haven of the mystic draenei, to fight against and alongside legends from Warcraft's brutal past."

Perhaps one of the most noteworthy features of the new expansion is the ability to instantly upgrade one character to level 90, making it so that anyone can join Draenor without feeling like a n00b. The expansion also lifts the level cap up to 100, giving players new reason to harvest XP.

As expected, the expansion will introduce new Zones, Dungeons, Raids, Scenarios, Battlegrounds, and more. Blizzard promises questing improvements, as well. Finally, Warlords of Draenor will also introduce "fully revamped player character models and animations," making the game look better than before. You can see the fruits of their effort in this new trailer:

How about an update that brings back the 4-6 month grind to level up. Cut all XP by 90%. Make it so that when you actually EARN your levels. You actually ENJOY and LEARN the storyline. I was shocked when I started Cataclysm and was level 80 in 3 weeks. I recall spending 16 hours a day in vanilla and finally reaching 60 in 5 months.

You were fucking up if it took you 16 hours a day for 5 months to hit 60 in vanilla.

Leveling isn't the goal, at least not for me. You are confusing challenge with annoyance.

It's not a better or worse goal than grinding raid gear forever. People just enjoy different parts of the game. I personally happen to think that the leveling/exploration aspects of WoW 1.0 were some of the best times I've ever had in video gaming, and that subsequent expansions have very much traded that sense of adventure for a very bland sort of "epic story arc" that has tended to fall very flat.

WoW needs less story and more emphasis on an intriguing game world.

Wait, how does hanging around one area killing the same enemies over and over for hours help you enjoy the story? Does a guy spawn and start reading you the history of the realms like a walking audiobook after you kill your 3000th giant spider?

You've got a memory issue. I played starting on day one and hit level 60 in 13 days.

No one earns their levels. You can't lose xp or go back in levels

Back when you had to level uphill both ways in the snow?

I'm nostalgic for vanilla WoW, too, but let's be realistic. The game is 9 years old. A huge portion of the base has been around for a long time and is well familiar with what it was like to grind in the old days. You can't force people to enjoy the story if they're not already inclined to pay attention to stuff like that.

for some reason... that quote at the start annoyed me... sounded like stupid pseudo-philosophy bullshit. To me, it feels like that's intended for a young audience, to impress them and draw them into the world and it's lore.

I think that's the wrong way to go about it.

Blizzard should instead write something a little more mature and believeable, something actually intriguing to adults. Youngsters will follow the adults. They might not understand at first, but eventually they will and it will make it even cooler for them later on. Meanwhile I don't get annoyed by stupid pseudo-philosohpy bullshit, allowing me to enjoy the game more.

To look at a classic like Star Wars (original trilogy), i dont feel like any lore or philosophy is shoved down the viewers throat, or presented in a hammy way. And I think that helps the viewer appreciate it even more, because they may not understand it all if they first see it at a young age, but as they get older they can enjoy the experience even more as they notice and learn new things.

How do you guys feel about it and/or WoW's style in general? maybe WoW has always been this way and i just didnt notice?

Is there no lore left they won't butcher for a dollar?

I thought the old school Horde were supposed to be a "peaceful, shamanistic people" before the Burning Legion showed up and corrupted them?

      What the shizzle?

Also, do they use ingame cinematics to showcase the games now? Pre-rendered were too expensive, I guess.

The story is that Garosh has gone back to Draenor to stop them from being corrupted by the burning legion, but has then stirred them up himself to fight against Azeroth.
