SimCity Cities of Tomorrow trailer introduces friendly neighbourhood megacorp

As a planet-hacker and cybronic force-blade punk, I spend a lot of time idly daydreaming about the cities of tomorrow. Do I wish to live in a gleaming arcology or a stinky neon hole? SimCity's expansion will make you decide for your Sims, and a new trailer gives a voice to the competing Academy idealists and megacorp OmegaCo, each trying to win you over.

As Maxis has shown before, the Academy researches wonderful techs to produce clean energy and whisk everyone around on shiny maglev trains, while OmegaCo wants to turn your entire city into a hive of franchises for its polluting but money-making products.

Obviously, the most productive approach will be striking a balance between the two ideals. Who's right? I can't say. Who builds the coolest-looking cities? Oh, it's definitely the megacorp.

Cities of Tomorrow comes November 12 to PC and Mac.

That's the genius of this expansion: cities of tomorrow are vertical! No need to expand out!

I know the game gets a lot of shit, but if you have never heard the soundtrack, you are missing out. It's probably one of this year's best. I listen to it frequently and works well with any city builder.

How long until someone photoshops the EA logo onto the megacorp's buildings?

It looks pretty cool, but the price for this is just way out there.

Then again I probably wouldn't buy it if it cost $5.

I thought it looked pretty cool. The Maglev and the connected skyscrapers look neat.

Shame the cities are so small, though.

So instead of increasing the map size, you build up. AAAAANNND....instead of fixing the transport/traffic system, buildings are connected with maglev/TheJetsons tubes?

I'm totally happy with this conceptually but it seems like there're more fundamental issues to fix before doing reskins and total conversions...

actually this dlc aims to rectify alot of the issues, you build upwards, agents live and work in the same building reducing traffic, sky roads reduce traffic, drones deliver freight via flying so again reducing traffic and a monorail that goes above the streets, again reducing traffic. I think it has some cool ideas but I still hate the fact that its confined to the same size plots and that its dlc instead of a patch but im not surprised

Why not go all the way and invent teleportation, eliminating traffic completely.

because then all the agents would teleport to the closest location until it was full, and then the remainder to the next location etc.
            The simulation is fundamentally broken.
