Current-gen ain't over: the PS3 & Xbox 360 exclusives to look out for

Don't throw our your PS3 and Xbox 360s. Even if you're jumping into PS4 and Xbox One, there are a ton of games that are exclusive to the current-gen.

With today's launch Batman: Arkham Origins, many seem to think the current-gen is over. This is the last game exclusive to current-gen, before cross-gen games like Assassin's Creed 4 and Call of Duty: Ghosts arrive, right? Wrong! Don't get ready to box up your PS3 and Xbox 360 quite yet, as there's still many games hitting these platforms. And, because next-gen consoles don't have backwards-compatibility, these games are exclusive to the current-gen.* *PC Master Race excluded.

A brand new Gran Turismo. On your not-brand-new PS3

The Big Names A new Castlevania. A new Gran Turismo. A new Final Fantasy. A new Ratchet & Clank. DARK SOULS 2. And a new XCOM game. This is a lineup that would make any console jealous--and none of these games will be available on next-gen systems. Some are launching this holiday, while others will be available early next year. With games like this, you definitely do not want to throw away your old consoles!

Final Fantasy X is back--but not on PS4 or Xbox One

JRPG-Mania Like PlayStation 2 before it, PlayStation 3 is becoming the JRPG platform of choice. Well after PS3 launched, PS2 was home to JRPG greats--notably, Persona 4. As this generation comes to a close, we see a similar trend happening. JRPG fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming year.

It's a good time to be an anime fan

Fight On! If you're into fighting games, you'll want to stick around for the current-gen. Not only will you put off upgrading your gear, but you'll be able to play new and newly-updated fighting games.

Murdered has you playing a ghost detective

Everything Else Finally, there's still a number of games coming out on PS3 and 360 that don't quite fit the previous categories. Many of these games look interesting, and some of them are even free-to-play. And once again, none of them are available on PS4 or Xbox One.

It's funny, I want the PS4, but there's so many titles coming to PS3 that it's kinda hard to justify jumping ship yet.

If I was a 360 person though, I guess there's really no reason at all to stay, a single exclusive and it's a remake.

Games for Gold continues indefinitely on the 360... *shrug*

ya but it's games that everyone has already played. Halo 3 and AC2? Come on. OTOH, I'd never played Hotline Miami before, and getting Ico and Shadow of the Colossus was awesome to re-play. What would be cool that both SNE and MSFT could do for XB1 and PS4 is the "free" games are PS3/360 games they've ported to the new systems. Unlikely, but would be nice since there's an obvious void of backlog games to give away free.

Indeed. And I think you keep these permanently, which you don't on PSN+

Free shit I already have is hardly an enticement.

But that's not *new* games. I am curious if Sony will keep giving out free PS3 titles, along with Vita and PS4, or if the PS3 stuff will dry up. I'd imagine that as the system ages further and fewer people purchase games, it'll be easier to justify more free stuff.

I'm more curious if Microsoft extends it to Xbox One after the first of the year.

I'd be very surprised if they did, given the relative age of most of their offerings thus far. Unless they offer smaller titles (like stuff that'd be XBLA even though it's not called that anymore)

I'd be shocked if it didn't extend to Xbox One next year sometime. But yea, they'd probably start with less expensive titles.

Is the pc comment necessary at all in the article?

Well, a lot of these games are also coming out on PC, so needed to clarify the "exclusive" bit.

Too late. I've already traded in all my ps3 games and now from this day foward shall be known as a ps4 man. Whatever interesting title that comes out for the ps3, I will play on the ps4....when it comes.

That should read "BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma". Also, we might end up hearing that Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold (yes, that is the official title of the Japanese release... Perusona 4... ji arutimakkusu urutorasūpurekkusuhōrudo!!! ) could be localized for North America (no word yet, but I'll wait and see).

This is one reason I'm keeping my PS3 and 360 around even though I'm getting a PS4 and XBone (I'm going to disconnect the Dreamcast from my bedroom TV and likely hook it up to my PC monitor to make room for the PS4...and the XBone will go in my living room since it will need more room for the Kinect 2.0 even though I rarely play games in my living room). The other reason is the huge stack of unfinished games I need to play through on my 360 and PS3 (looking at Red Dead and TLoU in particular).
